1. On top of the required courses and required electives listed above, students in the Professional Emphasis group are also required to enroll at least 2 additional courses offered by the Institute. Likewise, on top of the theory courses listed above, students in the Research Emphasis group are required to enroll in 3 additional theory courses, which are from the 3 broad categories of "Theory & Methods", "Media and Public Awareness" and "International Horizons", as outlined in the Institute's Study Plan. 

In particular, students who wish to enroll for "Video Reporting II" should have first enrolled for the "Video Reporting I", while students who wish to enroll for "Interview and Writing II" should have first enrolled for "Interview and Writing I". If the student already has a foundation in interviewing/ writing and video reporting, please provide the relevant certificates and documents  to the Head of the Institute for approval. Examples include experience of at least 2 years in the media or prior study of related courses.    

2. Students who are part of the early intake into the 2015 Academic Year need to adhere to the requirements of the 2014 Academic Year.

3. Credits from the undergraduate course (from the 3rd year onwards) will be counted towards the credits for mandatory electives for graduation, if approved by students’ advisor.

4. The Institute, together with National Chengchi University's Masters' courses in News, Broadcast and Advertising, National Taiwan Normal University Graduate Institute of Mass Communication, National Taiwan University of Arts Graduate School of Applied Media Arts,  Shih Hsin University Graduate Institute of Communications, Tamkang University Department of Mass Communication, National Chiao Tung University Institute of Communication Studies and the National Sun Yat-Sen University Institute of Marketing Communication, have an intercollegiate elective protocol based on students’ elective credits. Students may study at a partner university for one course each semester, and the total number of credits cannot exceed 10 credits.
